Police seek assistance

The police have requested those who have been defrauded by Sakvithi Ranasinghe who is now in Criminal Investigation Department’s (
CID) custody to come forward and lodge their complaints if they have not done so until now.

 

Those who want to contact the police regarding the suspect can contact the CID through a special telephone line set up for this purpose - 0112422176 or at the CID office.

Sakvithi is accused of swindling more than 1,000 million rupees and the police have received more than 2,900 complaints to date regarding his fraudulent activities. Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife were arrested yesterday (August 6) following information provided by a Civil Defence Force officer. He and his wife had reportedly returned to the country from India two months ago.
