Remanded for stealing perfume bottle

A hotel room boy who had allegedly stolen a perfume bottle valued at Rs.2,000 belonging to a French national at a hotel in Kollupitiya was remanded till October 27 by a Colombo Court today.

The hotel manager in a complaint to the Kollupitiya Police alleged that the suspect had stolen a perfume bottle belonging to a foreign guest while he was staying in the hotel. The suspect had been identified as a resident of Hatton aged around 20-23. Police arrested and produced him in Court alleging that he had committed an offence under section 369 and 394 of the penal Code.

Having considered the submissions the Magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratne ordered the suspect be remanded till October 27. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
