Ravi Wettasinghe remanded

Controversial businessman Ravi Wettasinghe, who was wanted in connection with an alleged defrauding of a company director of Rs. 10 million on the promise of providing him a house with a plot of land in Nawala, was ordered to be remanded till May 25 by Colombo High Court judge Padmini N. Ranawaka.


The Attorney had indicted Ravindra Buddhadasa Wettasinghe for allegedly defrauding Don Anthony Rohan of Kandana a company director of Rs.10 million on or around September 16, 2005.

The accused Wettasinghe was absconding Court for few years and he had been tried in absentia.


He was arrested by Immigration officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport on February 20 whilst attempting to leave the country for Dubai. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
