The atmospheric conditions were still favorable for rainy weather over the island, the Meteorology Department said.

It said occasional showers or thundershowers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and the Central Provinces and in the Galle and Matara Districts.

Showers may spread to the North-Western Province as well.

“Thundershowers will develop at several places elsewhere, particularly during the afternoon and night,” the Met. Dept. said.

“Heavy rainfalls (More than 100mm) are also likely at some places. There may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers.
