Voicing concern that the Sri Lanka government was "not doing enough" for the Tamils there, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said he would ensure that they get justice.

"We are concerned that enough is not being done for Sri Lankan Tamils by the government there," the AICC General Secretary said during a brief interaction with a group of intellectuals in Chennai.

Gandhi said he would take up the matter with "appropriate persons" at the Centre and see that Sri Lankan Tamils got justice.
Political parties in Tamil Nadu have expressed concern over the delay in rehabilitation of Tamils after the end of the ethnic strife last year with the decimation of LTTE.

Last month, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had said the presence of about 30,000 Tamils in camps for internally displaced persons in Sri Lanka was a matter of "serious concern".

He had also said the issue relating to resettlement and rehabilitation of the Tamils had not been fully addressed by Sri Lankan Government in spite of earnest efforts and dialogue at various levels undertaken by India.

Gandhi expressed dismay over the "reluctance" of intellectuals to join main stream politics. "They should come forward and contribute their mite to the nation's polity," he said.

The Congress leader said he was trying to make a difference in the country's politics by bringing in more youths in the field.
"More and more should come forward to join politics," he said.
