Public input sought

The Commission appointed by President Mahinda Rajapakse to inquire into to the death of Ruhuna University student Susantha Anura Bandara has sought submissions from the public over the incident including the circumstances which led to his death and the inquiry carried out by he police.  

 

In a public notice the secretary to the Commission which is headed by Justice. D. J. de S. Balapatabadi said that such representations should reach the Commission by the first week of September and those handing over submissions may be required to appear before the Commission to give evidence.

 

The Commission is inquiring into to the death of Ruhuna University student Susantha Anura Bandara which occurred on 2nd July, in order to identified those who were directly of indirectly responsible for his death as well as the manner in which the investigations were carried by the police and if such inquiry had due regard to the proceedings established by law, the public notice said.
