A group of students from the Peradeniya University who attempted to stage a protest opposite the University Grants Commission (UGC) in Ward Place this afternoon were forcefully taken away by the police and abandoned at various locations, a Student Union Spokesman told Daily Mirror online.

The Spokesman said that 400 students were forcefully loaded into five buses by the police and driven away.

The Spokesman added that the students will now resort to taking legal action against the police over the incident. (Daily Mirror online)
