Protesters will be arrested for public nuisance: Police

Protesters causing public nuisance would be arrested and produced in court, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said today.


He said that the Police would take measures to quell organised protests and demonstrations across the country, which would block the roads and disrupt day-to-day affairs of the public.


Speaking about a protest in Mahiyangana, SSP Rohana said that the Police had to use the minimum force as the protesters had not come to an agreement.


“They were continuously blocking the Mahiyangana Road while arguing with police officers,” he told a news conference in Colombo. (PIYUMI FONSEKA)
