Protest against Police on Bo tree

A man held a protest on top of a Bo Tree in the Mathara town against action taken by the Police against him. The man was forced down the tree by the Police after a few hours of protest. He is currently being held in the Thihagoda Police station.

The man had climbed on a Bo tree with historical significance in the townThe man had climbed on a Bo tree with historical significance in the town at around 12 this afternoon. The thirty two year old man had stated that the Police had been harassing his son and him and had requested the President to intervene and provide justice to the man.

SSP Deshabandu Tennakoon had visited the scene and assured the man that he would look into the matter.

Police Media Spokesman Ajith Rohana said that the Police are investigating numerous allegations of robbery and damage of property against the man. He is currently being held in the Thihagoda Police station. ( Supun Dias and Krishan Jeewaka Jayaruk)
