Prison superintendent pulled up

A Colombo Magistrate ordered the Superintendent of the women’s section of Welikada prison to show cause as why she had failed to adhere to a court order directing the prison authorities to send a woman LTTE cadre for rehabilitation.

At the magisterial inquiry into the case in which a woman named Satyaselan Dayanidhi is alleged to have LTTE involvement. The magistrate made this revelation alleging that on the last date of the inquiry the magistrate had directed the Prison Superintendent to send the LTTE cadre for rehabilitation.

However the Prison authorities had ignored the court’s direction and had kept the women prisoner in the custody of the Welikada Prison without sending her for rehabilitation.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Ms. Aruni Attygala noticed the women’s section superintendent to appear before court to show cause as why she failed to carry out the court order. (TFT)
