President addressed the Doha Economic Conference

Sri Lanka which successfully countered terrorism that threatened the country for 30 years is now regaining its place as the centre of economic and trade activities, and today people going ahead and ready to confirm the peace and economic prosperity said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.  

This target could be achieved if we stand as a one nation and the government is ready to go ahead to strengthen the people in economically and achieve a permanent peace through the consensus and at the moment we are on that process said the President while addressing the 12th Session Doha Economic Conference for the Middle East Economic Progress.  

President is participating as a special invited guest for the Doha Economic Conference with the invitation of Emir of Qatar HE Sheik Hamad Bin Kalifa Al Thani.

President expressed his satisfaction over the addressing of Doha Economic Conference when Sri Lanka, which was the oldest democratic country gained national franchise on 1931 is stepping towards a new prosperous era.

Sri Lankans irrespective of Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, Malay or Burger were attacked by terrorism for 30 years. When most of the countries were economically stepped backward Sri Lanka was able to go forward in strengthening Rural Economic and Agriculture.

While Sri Lanka is stepping hurriedly to accomplish the target of becoming self sufficient in food, it has a determination of becoming an Economic Centre for the Zone pioneering Trade and Commercial Activities.
