Power cuts have affected water supply: NWSDB

Power cuts have impacted the safe drinking water supply in the country due to the interruption in the operation of pumping stations, officials said today. The National Water Supply and Drainage Boards requested the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to look into this matter.

“More than the dry spell, the power cut has made an impact.  It is difficult to operate pumping machines without electricity. It is a serious issue. We have brought this notice to the CEB. Drought has affected water supply from natural springs only,” Board’s General Manager Lal Premanath told Daily Mirror online. (Kelum Bandara)
