The government is expected to receive in the next few days an extensive report of a possible pro-Tamil Tiger build up in Venezuela after reports to such an effect was received by the Sri Lankan Envoy in Havana, Foreign Ministry sources told Daily Mirror online.

The envoy, Tamara Kuliyanayagam who has rushed to neighbouring Venezuela is currently discussing the matter with the Venezuelan government officials and will report back to the Sri Lankan government.

It is believed that the latest development in Venezuela comes following the creation of a Transnational Government of Tamil Eelaam (TGTE) in several European countries and elsewhere.

The controversial TGTE held its inaugural sessions in the city of Philadelphia from May 17-19 in the US, where the LTTE is listed as a terrorist outfit.

The meeting comes in the wake of the Sri Lankan government urging foreign governments not to give credence to moves by the LTTE to create a government in exile in support of an Eelam state.

The Sri Lankan government last week also said that it has sought talks with the Tamil Diaspora as well as the International media in order to change their mindset about the LTTE and post war Sri Lanka.

The government said that in order to give the proper picture the Sri Lankan government is keen to have talks with representatives of the Tamil Diaspora as well as international news agencies and media organizations. (Daily Mirror online)
