The Police Women and Children’s Bureau is to submit a list of pornographic websites to the Juvenile Court in Battaramulla on Monday as part of the initial step to ban access to porn websites via mobile phones.
The Juvenile Court had yesterday ordered the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to ban access to porn websites via mobile phones following a case filed by the Police Women and Children’s Bureau.
Sources at the Bureau told Daily Mirror online that as part of the initial step, a list of websites to be banned will be handed over to the Juvenile Court on Monday.
Meanwhile when contacted by Daily Mirror online, TRC Director General Anusha Palpita said a proposal has been made to use filters in order to restrict the access to porn websites via mobile phones.
However he cautioned that the filtering process could affect the speed of internet access on mobiles. (Daily Mirror online)
