Trincomalee District Assistant Elections Commissioner M.M. Nishantha Dinipriya today charged that the police had failed to remove illegal election propaganda material displayed in the Trincomalee area despite earlier assurances.
Dinipriya made these observations at a meeting with senior police officers in the area with regard to election law violations in the district.
Particular attention was drawn by him on the display of posters, banners and cut-outs even in the vicinity of security posts.
