Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka told political party representatives today he will provide details regarding voters in the camps for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) to the candidates contesting the presidential elections, JVP MP Bimal Rathnayaka told Daily Mirror online.

A deadline for the removal of presidential election propaganda has also been set for Thursday as the police had failed to remove the cut outs and banners as claimed earlier. The police was heavily criticized for there inaction, the JVP MP told Daily Mirror online.

Further, after the meeting held between the party secretaries and the Elections Commissioner today it has been decided to appoint a competent authority to oversee the government electronic and print media, he added.

The JVP also alleged that several members of the JVP and UNP had been arrested under false charges. MP Bimal Rathnayaka also claimed that there were reports of some senior police officers visiting police stations and requesting the officers to vote for the government.
