Politico’s man abducted in Pita Kotte

A person believed to be a coordinating secretary of a controversial Minister was abducted this evening in the Pitakotte junction by a group of men who came in a van was reportedly found a short while ago. 

Police said that they received a call saying that the victim was found and the person who lodged the complaint with the police would come and withdraw the complaint.

However he had not come to the police station so far. According to information gathered the group consisted of around eight to 10 men. The incident had taken place between 2.30-3.00pm today, police media spokesman Ajith Rohana said.

Police said that the victim had been identified as Amal Rodrigo. At the time of his abduction he was inside a restaurant situated close to the junction.

A complaint was lodged with the Mirihana police at 6.00pm today over the abduction, he said.

The police said that they cannot determine the identity and the position of the victim who was abducted. The cause of the abduction is yet to be established and it is believed that a long standing personal dispute had led to the incident. (Supun Dias)
