The police stated that they will be taking stern action against school boys who act in an uncivilised and unruly manner during the big match season.

Police officials will be posted in civil attire and in uniform to arrest any person involved in travelling in vehicles in an unruly manner, behave violently, abuse and insult women and school girls, consume liquor and loiter in public places.

Persons who act in this manner will be bought before the law without taking in to consideration their social status or position of the school. The police have requested that school children, teachers and parents be educated regarding this matter.

Meanwhile the police stated that they have taken these steps since they have observed that during the big match season, school boys act in a very unruly and indecent manner and some incidents of that nature have been bought to their notice.

These instances include travelling in open hood trucks while abusing persons travelling on the roads, making large riots in front of girl’s schools and insulting the female students and behaving in a violent nature in front of their opposing schools. (Supun Dias)
