The police women and Child’s bureau has written to the Telecom Regulatory Commission (TRC) seeking a ban on access, via mobile phones, to at least 400 porn websites, an official at the bureau told Daily Mirror online.

When contacted Director General of the TRC Anusha Pelpita confirmed to Daily Mirror online that he had received such a request but added that Cabinet approval is required to implement such a move.

Mr. Pelpita said that so far no decision has been taken to ban or restrict porn sites on mobile phones nor is it being given immediate consideration until a request is put forward by the government itself. (Daily Mirror online)
