Police baton charge Tangalle protest

A protest organized by the JVP calling for the release of General Fonseka in front of the Tangalle  bus stand which was inconveniencing the public was baton charged and dispersed by the police this morning. Six protestors were also taken into custody.

 The JVP had organized the protest around 10am today in front of the
Tangalle bus stand where around hundred and twenty protestors gathered.
 
The protesters got unruly and blocked the road inconveniencing the public, when the police tried to disperse them; they had attacked the police officers with sticks injuring three officers who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, police spokesman SP Preshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online (GS)
