Plight of Lankan Tamils raised in Lok Sabha

The plight of Sri Lankan Tamils found voice in the Lok Sabha today with DMK leader T. R. Baalu urging the government to raise the issue at the upcoming UNHRC meet next month.

"The Prime Minister should go the UNHRC meet and raise the issue...Sri Lanka has miserably failed to deliver justice to the Tamil people there," he said during the Zero Hour.

While hundreds of people were "not traceable", several thousands have fled the country and over 40,000 have been killed by the Lankan armed forces in the past few years, Baalu said.
