Pettah Crime OIC, sergeant remanded for bribe

The Crime OIC of Pettah police station was remanded for accepting a bribe of Rs. 100,000 to not to arrest a suspect who was said to have kept stolen items in his custody.

The investigation officers attached to the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery and Corruption arrested the suspect OIC together with a police sergeant while accepting the bribe at the premises of the police station.

Colombo Chief Magistrate remanded the two police officers till November 30. (Sanath Desmond)
