Petrol damages paid tomorrow

The Petroleum Ministry said today compensations would be paid tomorrow to another 100 persons whose vehicles were damaged after the use of petrol of inferior quality. The Ministry will complete the payment of compensations by November 15, 2011.

The Ministry entertained complaints till September 5, 2011 about damages caused to vehicles after the use of such petrol imported to the country.  Later, all the applications sent by vehicle operators claiming compensations were processed.

According to the Ministry, persons who were eligible for compensation were notified of the date and the venue for the collection of money due for them in terms of compensation.

The Ministry said that they completed first the payment to those eligible for compensations worth less than Rs.40,000 each. (Kelum Bandara)
