Private Bus Owners Association (PBOA) President Gamunu Wijeratne said today they would fully agree with the initiatives taken to ban the use of mobile phones by Private bus drivers.

“Even now the law is implemented against the drivers who use mobile phones while at the wheel. However, we are agreed with the initiatives taken to implement the law against the errant drivers,” he said.

Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said yesterday that bus drivers would be banned from using mobile phones while driving from today after learning that the bus driver involved in the Banadarawela tragedy, which killed 10 passengers and injured 18, was in the habit of using his mobile phone while at the wheel.(Ajith Siriwardana)
