Pay hike for judges

A motion to increase the salaries of Judges was unanimously passed in Parliament a short while ago.

Accordingly, the Chief Justice will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 71,500, Supreme Court Judges and Appeal Court Chairman will receive a sum of Rs. 65,000, while a salary of Rs. 63,500 will be received by Appeal Court Judges, with effect from January 1, 2006.
