ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Naval Ships PNS SHAMSHEER will be arriving at Colombo Port for a 3-day visit from Tuesday.

As part of goodwill, the Pakistan Navy ships frequently pay port calls to Sri Lanka. These visits are aimed at further strengthening the existing strong relationship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The PNS Shamsheer’s visit is a manifestation of the strong, diplomatic, economic, cultural and defence ties between the two friendly countries.

The PNS Shamsheer is the second ship of Sword Class Frigates built at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard Shanghai, China. It is a potent platform and forms mainstay of the PN surface fleet. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have strong defence ties and both Navies engage in multifaceted cooperation.

Pakistan Navy provides a number of conventional training courses to the Sri Lankan Navy personnel, while Sri Lankan Navy shares its experience and expertise with regard to the anti-terrorism operations at sea.During their stay at Colombo, the officers and men of the PNS Shamsheer will take part in various professional activities with the Sri Lankan Navy.
