Over 30 school kids injured

A school bus toppled into a canal in Rajanganaya, Anuradhapura this morning, injuring 34 students of which 13 are said to be in serious condition and were transferred to the Anuradhapura Hospital, police said.

The accident occurred at 7.45 a.m when the students were on their way to school.

Police said the bus veered off the road and toppled into the canal.

Onlookers assisted in rescuing the children and the bus driver and rushed them to the Nochchiyagama Hospital.

However 13 students who suffered serious injuries were transferred to the Anuradhapura Hospital.

A police team has been deployed to conduct investigations. (Daily Mirror online)
