Over 100,000 affected by floods

Over 100,000 persons have been affected due to the prevailing floods and heavy rain in the island, while more than 7700 were displaced and three deaths were reported, the Emergency Operation Centre of the Disaster Management Centre told Daily Mirror online

138037 persons of   26313 families have been affected due to the rain while three persons were killed and eight were injured. The most number of persons were affected in the Mannar District affecting more than 33000 persons. Kilinochchi, Hambantota and Jaffna were also severely affected.

48 IDP camps have been set up in several Districts to assist the displaced and affected, the Disaster Management Centre said. (Daily Mirror online)
