Over 100 suspended

Over one hundred postal employees have been suspended for various discrepancies in their transactions, Postmaster General M. K. B. Dissanayake told Daily Mirror online today

 

He added that the suspended employees include some officers in charge of sub post offices and postmen. Investigations have been commenced regarding these employees, the Postmaster General said

 

Meanwhile a work to rule campaign was launched by several postal unions at the Colombo Mail Exchange demanding that several officers who were interdicted for accepting over 6000 under priced transactions be reinstated.

The Postmaster General said that four employees were interdicted for accepting over 6000 under priced transactions. Investigations are under way regarding these transactions as well, Postmaster General Dissanayake said. (Daily Mirror online)
