Over 100 maids to return

Over 100 Sri Lankan maids in Kuwait who were stranded and living in safe houses operated by the Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait, are to return to the country on Sunday, the Sri Lankan Foreign Employment bureau said.

Deputy General Manager of the bureau's Foreign Affairs L.K Ruhunuge told Daily Mirror online that the maids are among those who’s visas have expired, left their employers over pay issues or faced abuse by their employers and later ended up at safe houses.

Some 105 Sri Lankan maids from Kuwait are scheduled to return to Sri Lanka on Sunday on the expense of the Sri Lankan authorities, the Sri Lankan Foreign Employment bureau said.
