The Organization of Professional Associations (OPA) has expressed concern at the proposed 18th amendment to the constitution stating that it would reverse provisions of the 17th amendment.

The OPA also said that the proposed amendment is not in the interest of promoting good governance or in the nations interest and requested all parties concerned to give further consideration to the advisability of enacting the 18th amendment.

The OPA also said in order to make amendments to the constitution it should first be ensured that separation of powers between the legislature, executive and the judiciary and that the judiciary should be completely independent. (Daily Mirror online)
