The officer-in-charge of the Waduramba Police Station, IP L Keerthisinghe has tendered his resignation from the post of OIC citing the constant political pressure he has had to face.

Speaking to the media in Galle, IP Keerthisinghe said that he couldn't carry out duties due to pressure from local politicians and, therefore, he had decided to remove his uniform and go home after 18 years of service.

He charged that, despite the political pressure on him, none of the senior police officers were willing to take action against the politicians and they continued to remain silent.

He said that he had sent a letter to the Police Chief informing of his decision.
