The committee appointed by President Mahinda Rajapakse to inquire into the Nawalapitiya incidents will meet tomorrow to discuss the issues which led to the violence and will thereafter brief the President, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha told Daily Mirror online.

Premajayantha said that a comprehensive report into the inquiry will be handed over to President Rajapakse soon afterwhich Daily Mirror online learns that disciplinary action is likely to be taken against the candidates who were involved in creating violence which led to a re-poll in Nawalapitiya.

Meanwhile when questioned if the President would hand over portfolios to the Kandyan candidates once the inquiries were over, Premajantha said ‘yes’ without commenting further.

The candidates from the Kandy districts who have been left out from receiving portfolios are Keheliya Rambukwella, S.B. Dissanyaka and Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

Daily Mirror online learns that President Rajapakse has been angered over the Nawalapitiya violence which led to a re-poll and wants to identify who were behind the incidents.

President Rajapakse has also expressed disappointment at the internal rift among the UPFA candidates who contested from the Kandy District saying it had brought disrepute to his party. He had also said the fighting had been a disgrace. (Daily Mirror online)
