The District Court of Colombo today issued notice on the JVP leadership informing  that the court will restrain them from holding the convention which is scheduled to be held at Tissamaharama on January 1 in the event if they  ignored the  court’s notice.

Colombo District Judge W.R.R.N Watupola issued this notice on the JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe and on the Central Committee members on considering the submission made by Counsel Iraj De Silva who appeared with Nuwan Bopage instructed by Anusa Wickramasinghe and perusing the petition and the annexed documents on behalf of the two dissident members of the JVP namely Ajith Kumara and G.Kularatna.

The Counsel submitted that the petitioners are lawfully elected to the executive committee and they are entitled to vote in the elections. The counsel said due to dissenting opinion with the leadership on certain issues  the leadership without informing them and without informing  some members of the central committee had scheduled to hold a convention in order to elect members to the executive committee.
