Not all frogs are politicians

Not all frogs can become politicians and any country takes a downturn when drug peddlers, cannabis growers and jesters become politicians, UNP Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha De Silva has said.

Commenting on Education Minister Bandula Gunawardana’s claim that a three-member family could live on Rs, 7,500 a month, Dr De Silva further said if anyone can survive on less than Rs.83 a day on minister’s calculations it is much lower than the extreme poverty line of one US dollars per day which is Rs. 128.

Dr. Silva added it is up to Minister Gunawardana to explain to the country how a Sri Lankan could live on Rs. 2,500 a month while footing the health, electricity, school fees and transport bills in addition to the ever increasing cost of food. (Courtesy Ada)
