The Norochcholai Lakwijaya Coal power plant would be disconnected from the national grid from August 21 for a period of three weeks for annual maintenance work of the power plant, Ceylon Electricity Board said.

During this period the interconnection of plant and machinery of the phase two of the project too would be carried out.

The CEB said there would not be any interruption of electricity supply due to this as almost all the reservoirs are at the spill level and hence all the hydro power stations could be operated at their maximum capacities.
