The government said that there is no secret police operating in Sri Lanka as claimed by some sections.

In an interview with an Australian newsagency Sri Lankan High Commission in Australia, Thisara Samarasinghe said "there's a police force and other elements of the police force which conduct criminal investigations."

Speaking on the alleged abduction of the JVP dissident leader Kumar Gunaratnam, Samarasinghe said that he has not been detained by Sri Lankan authorities. He has never been arrested nor taken away by anybody from the Government, Samarasinghe added.
