No private pension for FTZ

The government today decided to exclude the employees of the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Katunayake from the proposed pension scheme for private sector workers, Western Provincial Council Minister Nimal Lansa said today.

Mr. Lansa told Daily Mirror that President Rajapaksa contacted him over the phone informed the decision.

The employees of the FTZ held a protest yesterday too against the proposed pension scheme which the government has vowed to bring with amendments.    Later, MP Mrs. Sudarshani Fernandopulle, Mr. Lansa and other area politicians raised the matter with the President at a special meeting in Temple Trees.  (Kelum Bandara)
