All private buses operating along the Galle road have joined the strike today after the relevant officials failed to take action against the perpetrators who assaulted the private bus driver on Thursday, President of Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association Gemunu Wijeratne told Daily Mirror online.

He added that the relevant officials have failed to take any kind of action against the alleged assaulters and that they only ask for justice. Furthermore he said that the alleged perpetrators should be arrested by the police and presented in Court.

The incident occurred reportedly after a private bus knocked against a SLTB bus operating from the Ratmalana depot damaging the side mirror of the SLTB bus which led to the assault of the private bus driver.

All buses starting from Panadura, Moratuwa, Kalutara, Aluthgama and buses on the Mathugama-Colombo route stopped work on Thursday, while buses on the Karagampitiya-Hettiawatta (176), Battaramulla-Dehiwela (163), Mount Lavinia-Mattakuliya (155) Angulana-Kiribathgoda (154)  joined in support of the strike yesterday.
