No more VIP or VVIP stickers

Traffic Police DIG Amarasiri Senarathne has ordered all vehicle stickers bearing the letters VIP or VVIP be removed with effect, police said today.

They said the police had received information about persons using vehicles with tinted glasses to transport drugs and other nefarious acts.

Legal action will be taken against those driving vehicles with labels or stickers on windscreens, the police said.

Meanwhile the Traffic Police DIG today ordered to take action according to the motor vehicles act to ban all tinted glasses covering the driver’s seat and the front seat on vehicles from today, police said.

According to the motor vehicle act, the front seats should be clearly seen through.

However, an area of 20-per cent from the top of the front windscreen could be tinted to avoid direct sunlight.

Front windscreens cannot be tinted without special permission, police said.
