The government has no intention to abolish the 13th amendment for the time being. The Minister of Mass Media and Information, Keheliya Rambukwella said.
Responding to a question raised by a journalist Mr Rambukwella said if the TNA fail to engage positively in the process of amending the 13th amendment it should take the responsibility for jeopardizing the possibility of working out a lasting solution to the national conflict.
Speaking on the issue of KP he said the government used KP in the process of bringing about a lasting solution to the national conflict by combating the LTTE diaspora while he was being held in detention until investigations were over against the charges leveled against him.

“We have destroyed the entire military infrastructure of the LTTE. We have a war now against the remnants of the LTTE haunting around the world with, we believe the pro- LTTE, the diaspora. We also strongly believe we can move forward and win the hearts and the minds of even the pro LTTE through certain sources. In that scenario KP plays a role,” he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)
