The Power and Energy Ministry today denied speculations of power cuts that could be experienced a result of low water levels in hydropower stations.

An official of the Power and Energy Ministry speaking to Daily Mirror Online said that in spite of the dry weather prevalent in the country, the power generation capacity of the hydropower stations have not yet decreased. “Such a risk would arise only if the current weather condition continues for at least four more months more,” the official added.

Speaking further the official stated that alternative power generation sources are also being prepared to be utilized if required.  (Daily Mirror Online)
