No breakthrough in Museum heist yet

One month into the theft at the Colombo Museum, there has been no breakthrough regarding the suspects or the stolen artifacts yet, the police said.
Police spokesman Ajith Rohana yesterday said that three CID teams, that were appointed to probe into the theft, have recorded statements from over 40 individuals regarding the recent theft at the museum.

Meanwhile Police spokesman Ajith Rohana denied speculation of Political involvement the incident. He said that the Police investigation did not reveal any such contradiction in statements as reported in the media.. “The Police investigations that are currently underway did not reveal any such contradiction from any persons statements” he said. He also said that the finger prints have been sent to the government analysts department for examination.

The Colombo National Museum was broken into on the 16th of March and artifacts including 8 swords, 18 rings, 4 handles and coins worth millions were found to have been stolen by the thieves.( Hafeel Farisz)
