The National Freedom Front (NFF) today denounced the statement made by the United Nations Human Rights (UNHR) Chief criticising the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) for refusing to cooperate with the UN mandated investigation on alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.

UNHR Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein on Friday said the GOSL continues to sabotage the UN probe and was attempting to prevent witnesses from submitting information to the probe.

NFF Spokesman Mohammad Muzammil charged the UNHR Commission was attempting to conduct a probe on Sri Lanka to which it had already made a conclusion.

“As we pointed out earlier, this is a pre-determined investigation. The UNHR Commission had already made up its mind about the conclusion. The new commissioner had made Sri Lanka guilty following the former High Commissioner,” he told a news conference.

He said the office of the Human Rights Commissioner was intruding for the sovereignty of Sri Lanka and the probe has mandated violating the international laws and regulations.  (Darshana Sanjeewa and Lahiru Pothmulla)
