Neo-liberal economic policies

President Mahinda Rajapaksa had embraced neo-liberal economic policies in his budgetary proposals for 2011 even more than late President J.R. Jayewardene and former President Chandrika Kumaratunga, the JVP said today.

Addressing a press conference, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said today that the government had relaxed foreign exchange regulations as a step towards the opening up of the Capital Account which the past leaders failed to do despite their attempts in this regard.

“We would now like to know what those ruling party elements who crow over patriotism and a national economic do now.  They have joined the government for perks. What have they got to say now?” he asked. ( Kelum Bandara )
