The Sri Lanka Navy advises Sri Lankans not to fall into traps laid by human traffickers and take risks at seeking illegal entry into Australia.

According to the Navy illegal sea travel to Australia will be a futile effort which will end up only in Malaysia as the Malaysian and the Australian governments have reached and agreement where illegal asylum seekers heading to Australia will be handed over to Malaysia for the determination of their refugee status.

Sri Lanka Police is also assisting Sri Lanka Navy in this combined effort. (SD)
