Navy denies attack on Indian fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy today denied the attack on Indian fishermen reported by the indian media. The news article alleged that the navy shot at two Indian fishermen for trespassing the Indian- Sri Lankan Maritime Boundary.

“Nothing of this sort has taken place and what the navy has been doing was repatriating them as most of them were found drifting in the seas as their trawlers were faced with an engine trouble”, he said.  

In the report, it alleged that the Lankan Navy shot and killed one fisherman who was from Pudukottal district in Tamil Nadu and believed that the other was killed too. (Supun Dias)
