Navy arrests 37 Indian fishermen and 9 trawlers

Thirty-seven Indian fishermen in nine trawlers were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly intruding into Sri Lankan waters yesterday, navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.

Four trawlers and 15 fishermen were arrested off the Delft Sea area while the others were arrested off Talaimannar.

The fishermen who were arrested are to be handed over to the Talaimannar police today. (Chaturanga Pradeep-DM Online)
