Parliamentarian Duminda Silva’s official bodyguard who was alleged to have shot former parliamentarian and Presidential adviser Baratha Lakshman Premachandra on Election Day at Mulleriyawa was identified by a witness during an identification parade held at the Colombo Chief Magistrate court yesterday.
The suspect, Police constable Anura Thushara de Mel attached to the Mirihana Police Station, the official bodyguard of Duminda Silva was identified by witness Don Sanjeewa Prasanna during the identification parade. Following the identification of the suspect he was further remanded until November 15 by Additional Magistrate Prasanna de Alwis.
The CID informed the Magistrate that the productions sent for the DNA test had been handed over to court.
They moved to impound the passport of Galaboda who was also alleged to have been involved in the shooting as he was absconding arrest. (By T. Farook Thajudeen)
