Video: MR should abolish Executive Presidency: TNA

Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian M. A. Sumanthiran today said that they were not plotting to divide the country and therefore President Mahinda Rajapaksa should abolish the Executive Presidency right away as he pledged in Kilinochchi on Sunday.

“Everyone knows what our stance on devolution of power. We even filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in this regard. We presented our party proposals which are about devolution of power within a united Sri Lanka. We have never requested for a separate State. Therefore, the President should abolish the Executive Presidency right away,” he told a news conference.

Addressing a public gathering in Kilinochchi on Sunday, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said if attempts to create a separate state in Sri Lanka stopped, he would abolish the Executive Presidential system. (Indika Sri Aravinda)
